Taste: Dark wine. Bright cherry and raspberry fruit on the nose with chocolate oak notes and hints of licorice and mint. A dusty character hints at more to come. The entry is super-smooth and supple with a juicy mid-palate, solid core of integrated tannins and long, clean finish with hints of raspberry. Awesome balance and very approachable structure, this wine is great for parties as well as a great wine to drink while waiting for your Lot 49 to decant.
Cameron Confidential: We were approached a while back by some folks who noticed what we were doing through their sales manager here in the US about 2 years ago. We were impressed with their wines and sent winemaker John down there to raid the winery and put some blends together. The first blend is this fantastic Meritage – super smooth and approachable, ridiculously inexpensive everyday drinking wine. This wine will continue to improve, in part because of the big dollop of Carmenere which scored a 90 point score as a stand alone under there own brand and is as black as squid ink.
