Taste: Dark red, almost black, wine. Nose of ripe blackberry with chocolaty oak notes and hints of cassis. The mid-palate is fleshy and ripe with more blackberry and cherry fruit and undertones of sweet espresso. Overall this wine is rich and round, with medium grain tannins carrying the fruit nicely through the long finish.

Cameron Confidential: Lot 72 highlights what is best about the Meritage designation, namely flexibility. We started this project with some very pricey Cabernet made by a prestigious Napa estate dating back to the '70s and improved it with two fantastic 2005 Napa Merlots that we got for a song because they were outside the "buy cycle" for bulk wines. The result is that a wine CHW would normally sell for $17 ended up being $12. This wine is ready to drink now and is a total crowd pleaser. Bring this to your next weekend get-together and the word "genius" will be whispered behind your back.

Also, if you were a big fan of Lot 23, this is about as close as we get.
