Taste: This deep, black/red Syrah from Lake County is approachable and ready to go. It has a year in the bottle and is open and mature, showing black pepper and rose petals on the nose, balanced with aromas of American oak. Intense raspberry and red cherry flavors mingle with velvety tannins and toasty vanilla notes. Plush mouthfeel and a long, pure finish. Medium/full-bodied structure and bright fruit make this wine ideal for any occasion, any time of the year. Will pair well with wild game, cherry-glazed pork, or hamburgers.

Cameron Confidential: Remember Lot 1 Syrah form Lodi? This wine is from the same winemaker, but you will recall he had moved his operation to Napa (where he sources from there and Lake County—our Lot 64 is also from him and features a blend of wines from Napa Valley and Lake County). As did everyone, he had excess grapes and wine from the monster 2005 harvest and asked if we would like him to make a wine for us. Absolutely.

The grapes come from the 1,800 ft. elevation hillsides in the Mayacamas Range. This Syrah is made with the same care and attention with which he makes his own wines, with careful punch-overs and new oak.

Compare at $32—we have it for $11!

Be sure to check out Lot 64 as well.
