Taste: This “Cab Sav,” as they say Down Under, with a nose full of raspberry, pencil shavings, ginger, and menthol eucalyptus, presents a youthful display of a wine that will only become better with maturity. This is a fresh, sexy Cab with black licorice and cranberry on the mid-palate and a finish that lingers with the flavor of savory chocolate covered strawberries. Its structure is well supported by velvety tannins that will mellow with bottle age. Enjoy with a nice filet mignon, stewed lamb chops or hamburgers on the barbie!
Cameron Confidential: If you liked the Lot 40 McClaren Vale Cab then you’ll love the Lot 61. Bigger, richer, far more voluptuous. We bought this wine on our January 2007 trip and have had it in barrel until bottling at the end of last year. It’s still unwinding in the bottle and a bit unpredictable but upon broad retail release I expect this wine to fly out the door so don’t be afraid to buy yours today.
