Taste: Deep ruby-red in the glass, with massive nose of black currant and cassis. This seductive wine is lusciously textured, showing incredible complexities, including myriad black fruits, graphite, and cigar box. It shows great length and depth of character, with tannins large scaled but sweet and ripe, carrying the finish that you would expect of a Mayacamas Cab.

Cameron Confidential: This wine hails from the south-facing slope of the Mayacamas, the mountain range that divides Napa and Sonoma. This region has been considered for AVA status but is still caught up in red tape. From a high-end program right on the border, the base of this wine is mostly Cabernet with a great stand-alone Cabernet Franc wine blended in. It was a tough decision whether to blend this wine, but after tasting the Meritage that came from these wines, we just had to do it! You won’t find a better Bordeaux-style Meritage than this wine at this price.

This is my go-to wine right now. Balanced, full, ripe fruit and very tasty.
