Taste: Dark, ruby-red with a matching rim, showing great concentration, this wine exhibits forward, focused aromas of ripe black currants and blackberries. Black fruit dominates the sip, augmented by blueberry, cocoa, and subtle French oak. On the palate, it shows a fine balance of copious Napa-style fruit with the fun, boisterous accents of Sonoma, a trademark of this region. The acidity matches the fruit, and the tannic structure is big, yet friendly. With a fleshy mouthfeel and a rich mid-palate, this is a great "go-to" Cabernet that will drink beautifully for the next 10 to 15 years.
Cameron Confidential: As one of our favorite bottles at this price, this wine comes off the northwest slope of the Mayacamas, the mountain range that divides Napa and Sonoma. This region has been considered for AVA status but is still caught up in red tape. From a high-end program right on the border, this wine is their single-vineyard estate wine that normally sells for $45. We should be charging more around $16 dollars a bottle for this Cab, but we figured that since we have been throwing all of these $22 dollar Cabernets at you for a few months, we'll cut you a break on this one for only $15. We'll most likely sell out of this wine online, so grab it while you can, and don't wait for it to show up at one of our national retailers.
