Taste: Ripe nose of caramel, toasted almonds, ripe bananas, and pineapple. On the palate, a fruity richness fills the mouth with additional flavors of toasty oak, rich cream, and caramel balanced by crisp acidity of McIntosh apple. This is one monster of a Chardonnay, showing incredible density and packed with big fruit, creamy oak, and fantastic overall structure. Yet, as big and rich as this wine is, it still has great acidity!

Cameron Confidential: I bought some wine from this winery earlier in 2008 and after that deal said, "Hey, what else you got?" It just so happened they were trimming their sales expectations for their flagship $30 bottle Chardonnay and had about 3,600 gallons of barrel-fermented and aged Paso chard. This wine is a full-throttle Chardonnay with no expense spared. What surprises me is that despite its exceptional richness, this wine still maintains a vibrant underpinning of acidity that lifts and carries it. Really fantastic stuff—I wish I had 20,000 cases of it. Unfortunately, all we got was about 1,500.
