Taste: The Los Carneros Chardonnay is a limited offering of truly exceptional Chardonnay defined by the San Francisco Bay region. The yield from these vineyards is limited by the lack of water and the cool, extended growing cycle that adds hangtime (creating exceptional fruit and acid) while limiting fruit set due to the cool weather. This wine in many aspects is the closest California-produced Chardonnay that compares to an exceptional Meursault. Amazingly rich, silky flavors of ripe apple and honeysuckle melt with spicy new oak and butter on the mid-palate to form a wine with dramatic weight and enough acid on the finish to complement food nicely. This is a wine that will age in the bottle for a good 4 to 5 years, rewarding those with patience with myriad flavors rarely experienced in a California Chardonnay.
