Wine Uncorked, Lot 142

Cameron Hughes Lot 142 Pinot Noir Carneros 2007

Let me just start off by saying that Cameron Hughes has done it again. Not only is this Pinot outstanding, it's a sensational value. This is one of those wines that makes you want to lick the bottle dry after the last glass is gone.

The wine is a semi-opaque deep raspberry red in the glass with a matching rim. The nose is dominated by sweet jammy strawberries and raspberries. Gorgeous nose, it's very inviting.

This Pinot is a monster. It's full-bodied, but still has a nice degree of elegance. The palate exudes great complexity with smokey dark cherries and strawberry jam. Well structured, rich, and ending with a minute long, mouth coating finish.

Hands down the best Pinot I have had under $30 dollars. If you're into the fuller-bodied, dense Pinot's, this wine is right down your alley. It could benefit from another 2 to 5 years in the bottle, but is drinking beautifully now. Simply delicious – 92 points.
