A new CHW release will be in several Chicago-area Costco stores this weekend. Lot 61 2006 McClaren Vale Cabernet represents the best of Australia – bold, fruit-forward flavors upon initial taste followed up by velvety tannins and a lingering finish. Nobody makes warm, fruit forward cabs that still have great structure and potential like the Aussies do.

This "Cab Sav," as they say Down Under, with a nose full of raspberry, pencil shavings, ginger, and menthol eucalyptus, presents a youthful display of a wine that will only become better with maturity. This is a fresh, sexy Cab with black licorice and cranberry on the mid-palate and a finish that lingers with the flavor of savory chocolate covered strawberries. Its structure is well supported by velvety tannins that will mellow with bottle age. Enjoy with a nice filet mignon, stewed lamb chops or hamburgers on the barbie!
